VIDEO: Robber Hurls Scooter at Bodega Before Slashing Worker, Police Say

By Eddie Small | October 18, 2016 11:08am

CONCOURSE — A robber was caught on video using a scooter to smash the door of a local bodega, moments before he ransacked the store and slashed an employee inside, police said.

The suspect, who was working with an accomplice, hurled the scooter at the door of Deli and Grocery, a bodega at 200 E. 165th St., at roughly 9:20 a.m. Sunday, according to the NYPD.

He then slashed a 23-year-old employee with a knife and threw items from the store out onto the street, police said.

His partner in crime hit the same worker in the head with a cane and snatched $100 from behind the counter before they both fled, according to authorities.

The employee was taken to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition with a severe cut on his right hand, police said.

Video released by police on Monday shows one of the suspects holding a cane and scooter, which he can be seen throwing into the deli's door.

Officers described the first suspect (pictured below) as a man between 18 and 25 years old, standing 5-foot-7 and weighing 150 to 170 pounds. He was wearing black sneakers, dark sweatpants and a dark baseball hat.
