ASTORIA — The shuttered Western Beef supermarket at Steinway Street and Northern Boulevard will be demolished to make way for a new five-story hotel, city records show.

JMH Development is planning to construct the 210-room hotel at 36-20 Steinway St., according to paperwork filed with the Department of Buildings earlier this month.

The new lodgings will include underground parking and a bar on the first floor, according to the plans, as well as 18,000-square-feet of retail space, a rep for the developer said.

The company, which has built residential buildings in Williamsburg and Cobble Hill, declined to offer additional details of its plans, including the name of the future hotel and its expected room rates.

The site is just blocks from an existing hotel, the Paper Factory at 36th Street and 37th Avenue.

It's also a short distance from the nearby Dutch Kills neighborhood, which has become a hot spot for budget-friendly hotels built in the last decade.
