Man with Glass Eye Tries to Snatch Baby Out of Stroller, Police Say

By Shaye Weaver | October 17, 2016 10:47am

UPPER EAST SIDE — A man with a glass eye tried to grab a baby from his stroller Sunday before the child's father fought him off by hitting him in the face, police said.

The father was standing with his 5-month-old baby boy at the corner of East 72nd Street and First Avenue just after 5 p.m. Sunday, when a man came up behind them and said something incoherent, authorities said.

The suspect then bent over the baby and reached for him, prompting the dad to smack him in the face, police said.

The suspect then fled down First Avenue and the father called 911, according to the NYPD.

Police are still searching for the man, who they described as being in his 40s, having a glass eye, standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 220 pounds.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
