ST. GEORGE — A man tried to rob a bank so he could get enough money to go to Minnesota, prosecutors said.

Awaliyah Kollie, 35, from St. George, walked into the Santander Bank at 15 Hyatt St. in Staten Island at 4:11 p.m. on Oct. 7 and handed the teller a note which read "I have a gun," authorities said.

"Don't call nobody," Kollie told the teller, according to his criminal complaint.

Kollie did not get any cash — which he told police he needed to go the Land of 10,000 Lakes — and was arrested soon after, prosecutors said.

It was not clear why he wanted to go to Minnesota.

Kollie was charged with attempted robbery and his bail was set at $20,000, the Staten Island District Attorney's office said.

His lawyer did not respond to a request for comment.
