MIDTOWN — Swimsuits could replace Halloween costumes this week as record-breaking temperatures are set to heat up the city.

Monday’s high is expected to reach 77 degrees, while temperatures Tuesday should hover around 82 degrees — matching the record for Oct. 18 that has held since 1928, according to the National Weather Service.

Wednesday's high is also expected to be about 82 degrees, challenging the record of 83 degrees for the same date in 1963, forecasters said.

“Those records are in jeopardy,” NWS spokesman Tim Morrin said.

The 80-degree weather is well above the mid-60s average for this time of year, forecasters said.

Temperatures are expected to return to normal later in the week, with highs on Friday and Saturday in the 60s.
