QUEENS — Police are searching for a man who they said called 911 last Thursday, saying that there was a bomb at the Forest Hills subway station, leading to extensive delays during the morning rush hour, the NYPD and MTA said.

The man called 911 using a pay phone at the 71st/Continental Avenue subway station around 9:30 a.m. and said that there was a bomb there.

He later pressed the emergency button on the elevator and said that "the bomb will go off in six minutes and 57 seconds," police said.

Authorities said no device was found, and there were no injuries as a result of this incident.

The fake bomb scare led to extensive delays as trains bypassed the station for approximately 45 minutes Thursday morning, the MTA said.

On Monday, police released surveillance video showing the suspect before and after the call.

Officials described the man as being in his 50s or 60s, 5-foot-10 tall and weighing approximately 220 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a gray hooded jacket, a gray sweat jogging pants, glasses, black hat, black sneakers and a tan backpack. The suspect was walking with a cane.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
