UPPER EAST SIDE — The knife-wielding clown who chased a 16-year-old boy off a 6 train turned himself in to police Thursday night, the NYPD said.

Thomas Smith, 53, was charged with menacing in connection with the Oct. 5 incident at the 96th Street stop after surrendering at the 19th precinct, police said.

Smith, who was wearing multi-colored clothes and clown garb, held a kitchen knife as he blocked the doors of a Bronx-bound train at about 1:55 p.m.

The frightened boy fled the train, looking back to see Smith following behind him still holding the knife, according to the NYPD.

The teen then ran out of the station while Smith fled, police said.

Smith has no prior arrests, the NYPD said.
