Would-be Bank Robber in Chelsea Flees Empty-Handed, Police say

CHELSEA — The NYPD is on the lookout for a would-be robber who tried to knock over a bank in Chelsea on Thursday morning, according to police.

The bandit strolled into a Bank of America located at 670 Sixth Ave. at West 21st Street at about 10:30 a.m. on Thursday and passed a note to a teller demanding cash, but left empty-handed, police said.

Police described the attempted robber as between 25 and 30 years old and weighing about 160 to 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black and white ski cap and a black sweatshirt, according to authorities.
