LOWER EAST SIDE — A man who was knocked unconscious and robbed while walking to a store the night of Oct. 3 may have been sexually assaulted by his attacker, police said.

The victim was walking on Baruch Drive near East Houston Street around 11:35 p.m. when an unseen assailant hit him over the head with an unknown object, causing him to black out, according to authorities.

He regained consciousness to find $6 had been snatched from his pocket, and was taken to Mount Sinai to be treated for injury to his forehead, police said.

While at the hospital, physicians discovered evidence indicating the victim had been raped, at which point a rape kit was performed, according to a police report.

The case has been referred to the NYPD's Special Victims Unit, which handles sex crimes. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
