CLAREMONT — A 13-year-old girl who said she was sexually assaulted in Claremont Park on Monday night has recanted her statement, police said.

The girl initially claimed that an unknown teenager came up to her while she was walking through the South Bronx park around 10 p.m. on Monday, dragged her to a rocky area and sexually assaulted her, according to the NYPD.

Officials now believe no sexual assault occurred, police said.
