UPPER WEST SIDE — A man was arrested for beating his lover's dog to death inside his Upper West Side apartment, authorities said.

Anthony Pastor, 45, is accused of battering the Maltese mix so badly that it suffered broken ribs, a torn kidney and a damaged liver, according to court documents and the Daily News.

In a statement he gave police, Pastor said that the woman had been staying at his West 74th Street apartment for a few days and that the two of them went to get her dog Snoopy on Aug. 3.

"We took a cab back and took the dog for a walk," he told police, according to court documents. "Snoop seemed fine."

He also told police that the pooch "was more outgoing when we met and her kids were saying she didn't play with them anymore," the documents show.

The two had sex that night and went to sleep, and the dog was found dead around 4 a.m. on Aug. 4, records show.

Pastor was arrested Oct. 4 and is charged with one count of aggravated cruelty to animals and another for torturing, the Manhattan District Attorney's office said.

He was released on $5,000 bail, and his next court appearance is set for Nov. 30.

Pastor's lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
