BUSHWICK — Police on Tuesday arrested a subway scofflaw they say broke a 66-year-old victim's rib and cut his face during a mugging on a Manhattan-bound M train.
Authorities cuffed Troy Sales, 26, a Crown Heights resident with eight prior arrests mostly for turnstile jumping and one for robbery after they got a tip from Crime Stoppers, according to a police spokesman.
He was charged with robbery and was expected to be arraigned later, according to the Brooklyn District District Attorney's office.
No information about his lawyer was immediately available.
The mugging, which was captured on video, took place inside an M train car at the Myrtle/Wyckoff stop on Oct. 9 at 11 p.m., according to police.
Sales attacked a straphanger, knocking him to the ground, kicking and punching him, according to police.
Eventually Sales ran off with $20 from the older victim leaving the him on the ground in serious condition, police said.
The victim was soon rushed to the hospital where he was in stable condition, police said.
In August 2015, Sales was arrested for shoving a man to the ground near the intersection of Manhattan and Johnson avenues after he stole his bicycle, police said.
