NEW DORP — A pair of bandits wearing night vision goggles stole more than $100,000 worth of items from a Staten Island jewelry store, according to police and the owner.

The two male suspects — who were caught on surveillance camera — broke into Fortune Jewelers at 310 New Dorp Lane about 3:45 a.m. Sunday and stole jewelry from five cases inside, the NYPD and the store's owner said.

"I never thought it would happen to me," said the owner, who asked not to be named.

"I secured the place as best I could."

The owner said the thieves first got into a vacant dry cleaners store next door then broke into the back of the shop by breaking through a wall and a metal door.

The thieves swiped diamond pendants, crosses, gold rosary beads and more from the shop, including pieces the owner made by hand.

"I put my heart into this and it's gone," he said. "I feel kind of down."

He said they were "very professional" with night vision goggles, tools and all-white jump suits.

The owner has had the New Dorp spot for six years but has been in the business for 35 years, owning other stores in Brooklyn, Staten Island, Long Island and New Jersey.
