WEST VILLAGE — A man was assaulted by someone yelling anti-gay slurs on West 4th Street, police said.

The 32-year-old victim was approached by a man in his mid-20s in front of 170 West 4th St. about 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 2, police said.

The assailant repeatedly pushed the victim from behind until he fell and hit his head on the window frame of a nearby building, police said.

The attacker then fled.

The victim was taken by emergency medical personnel to Beth Israel Hospital, where he was treated for pain and a gash to his head, police said.

The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident, and the department released a surveillance video of the alleged assailant and the incident.

Police described the assailant as bald with a dark beard and a medium complexion, approximately 6 feet tall and 240 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, black pants and black sneakers, police said.
