Hatchet-Wielding Man Robs Woman in Woodside, Police Say

WOODSIDE — A man with a hatchet robbed a woman on a street in Queens, pulling her to the ground and stealing her purse, according to the NYPD.

The man approached the 23-year-old victim from behind around 11:30 p.m. Saturday near Woodside and Roosevelt avenues with hatchet in hand, police said.

He then dragged her to the ground and took her bag before fleeing north on 64th Street, according to the NYPD.

The man is described as between 25 and 30 years old, standing 5-foot-6 and weighing roughly 145 pounds, police said. He was wearing black shoes with red laces, a black baseball cap and black jacket.
