UPPER WEST SIDE — A young female skateboarder was struck by a vehicle in the Upper West Side Tuesday evening, officials and witnesses said.

The girl, who appeared to be about 7 to 10 years old, was skateboarding on the northeast corner of Amsterdam Avenue and West 94th Street when she lost control and went into traffic, witnesses said. The incident happened about 6:21 p.m., the FDNY said.

"Her mom was screaming, she was crying," said local worker Ayad Amin, 19. "The little girl was on the ground. She couldn't get up."

She was taken to New York-Presbyterian hospital in stable condition, said fire officials, who did not have further information about the victim.

The driver remained at the scene, witnesses said.

The NYPD did not have any immediate information on the collision.
