UPPER EAST SIDE — A Connecticut woman prepared to kill herself and her 10-year-old daughter by jumping in front of a 6 train last week, before police intervened, according to the NYPD.

Gabriella Georgescu, 43, was standing with her daughter on the edge of the platform at the 59th Street-Lexington Avenue station at about 5 p.m. Sept. 30, when witnesses noticed her acting strangely, police said.

Witnesses heard Georgescu tell her daughter, "chin up," and noticed bruises on the girl, before calling 911, according to authorities.

Police arrived just before the woman tried to jump and handcuffed her, according to the NYPD.

The daughter was taken to Bellevue Hospital and was put into the custody of the Administration for Child Services.

Georgescu was taken to Bellevue for psychological evaluation.

Police said she was charged with reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child.

The New York Daily News first reported the incident.
