Bartender Smashed on Head With Glass by Patron Who Wouldn't Pay, NYPD Says

By Aidan Gardiner | September 29, 2016 9:52am

QUEENS — A bartender received five stitches after a belligerent patron grabbed her by the hair Sunday and smashed a glass over her head for refusing to serve him another drink, police said.

The suspect, who can be seen in surveillance footage released Thursday morning, didn't pay for a round of drinks and then tried to order another from the bartender of the J Jack Bar Room at 164-03 Sanford Ave. about 11:30 p.m., NYPD officials said.

In the video, the suspect can be seen talking with the bartender and another person.

The 38-year-old bartender refused to serve the suspect so he attacked her, police said.

She was treated at Flushing Hospital, where she's listed in stable condition, police said.

The suspect fled and hadn't been arrested as of Thursday morning, police said.

He's in his late 40s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and 170 pounds, police said.

He was last seen wearing a black-and-white baseball cap, a dark shirt and light shorts, police said.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
