By Nicholas Rizzi | September 29, 2016 5:45pm

CASTLETON CORNERS — A Sanitation Department worker was arrested for drunk driving after he crashed into a parked car, prosecutors said.

Richard Ford, 28, was driving his Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck on Sunday and crashed into a Ford Fusion in front of 332 Manor Road at 6:43 a.m., according to court papers.

When police arrived, Ford was standing outside of his truck and had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet, prosecutors said.

He told police a "Honda Civic came into my lane, I tried to avoid it and I swerved," according to court papers.

Ford was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving while ability impaired, according to the Staten Island District Attorney's office.

He was released without bail and is due back in court on Nov. 4, according to online court records.

Ford has worked for the Sanitation Department since August 2012 and will face disciplinary action for the arrest, a spokeswoman for the agency said.

His lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
