GREENWICH VILLAGE — The group behind the iconic Village Halloween Parade, now in its 43rd year, announced this year's theme will be "Reverie" and the parade's first float will feature their main sponsor, MAC Cosmetics.

The theme refers to "that liminal space in which one creates," and invites "one and all to recreate their waking dreams," according to the parade group's website.

“The times we live in can be overwhelming," Jeanne Fleming, artistic and producing director of the parade, said in a statement. "This traditional and beloved event aspires to draw folks into their creative imagination — replenish their souls — and by extension make the world a better place.”

The theme was inspired by "our need as individuals to stop for a moment, unplug, take a breath and look into our deepest selves to create an authentic costume for the Parade," Fleming added. As in previous years, the parade will travel along Sixth Avenue from Spring Street in SoHo to 16th Street in Chelsea.

This year's parade promises dancers, artists, hundreds of puppets, 53 different bands and, if previous years are any indication, thousands of costumed participants and non-costumed spectators.

The public is invited to watch anywhere along the parade route, but can only participate or join the parade if in costume.

Those who wish to participate in costume must join the parade at its official line-up point at Sixth Avenue and Canal Street between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

The parade runs from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on NY1 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
