PORT RICHMOND — A man thrust a gravity knife through the open window of a patrol car and tried to stab NYPD officers inside, prosecutors said.

The on-duty officers were sitting in their marked patrol car in front of 192 Port Richmond Ave. on Saturday when Mesach Araujo-Rivas, 35, came up to the front passenger side and drove a gravity knife through an open window at about 1 a.m., prosecutors said.

When an officer got out to arrest him, Araujo-Rivas flailed his arms in an attempt to stop handcuffs being put on, according to court documents.

He was arrested and charged with menacing of a police officer, attempted assault, resisting arrest, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon, the Staten Island District Attorney's office said.

His bail was set at $10,000 cash and he's due back in court Friday, according to online court records.

Araujo-Rivas' lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
