BROOKLYN — A Brooklyn man struck and killed a pedestrian in Sheepshead Bay early Friday morning before fleeing the scene, police said.

Francis Perez, 28, was walking outside the crosswalk near Avenue V and Coyle Street about 2 a.m. Friday when he was hit by what police described as a blue Toyota SUV or minivan traveling westbound, according to the NYPD.

The driver of the Toyota, who police on Saturday identified as Brian Young, 47, fled the scene after hitting Perez, police said.

Paramedics rushed Perez to Coney Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

Young, who lives just one block from where the collision occurred, is 6 feet tall with blue eyes and brown hair, police said.

There have been no arrests, and the investigation is ongoing, according to police.

Anyone with information in regards to this collision is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at (800)577-TIPS, or for Spanish, (888)57-PISTA(74782). The public can also submit their tips by texting 274637(CRIMES), then entering TIP577.
