PARK SLOPE — A man threatened to stab a Stop & Shop security guard after the guard caught him shoplifting, according to a police report.

The guard spotted the man swiping merchandise from the supermarket Sept. 16 at 9:20 a.m. at the Atlantic Center mall on Atlantic and Flatbush avenues. The guard convinced the would-be thief to return all of the stolen goods, then asked him to come to the store's security office, according to the report.

At that point the shoplifter pulled a knife on the guard and said, "I will stab you. I'm not going to jail." He then ran away, according to the report.
