CARROLL GARDENS — Smith Street's The JakeWalk is ending its run in the neighborhood and will close Oct. 21, one of its co-owners said Friday.

"Sadly the time has come," co-owner Patrick Watson said via email Friday afternoon. "We have always felt so lucky the JakeWalk was beloved by so many and will always be extremely proud of how the business performed over the years."

The bar, located at 282 Smith St., has reached the end of its lease and the bar owners decided not to renew, said Watson, who is working with local business and property owners along Court and Smith Streets to launch a Business Improvement District.

Watson said he plans to focus on his other Smith Street retail locations, specialty cheese and charcuterie shop Stinky Bklyn and Smith & Vine, a wine and spirits store.

The 8-year-old bar's imminent closure was first reported by Gothamist

"[It] was a great run and would love to let everyone know to come and have one celebratory drink at The JakeWalk," Watson said.
