SOHO — An artist who goes by the name Rubin will paint a colorful, 30-foot mural on the side of One SoHo Square this weekend.

The Brooklyn-based Scandinavian artist, whose real name is Tony Sjöman, started out tagging graffiti in his hometown of Gothenburg, Sweden, at the early age of 9, and now has murals all over New York City and worldwide, from Miami to Thailand to, most recently, a series on the 69th floor of the World Trade Center in remembrance of the 15th anniversary of 9/11.

He will begin prepping and painting his 30-foot blank canvas on the building at the corner of Spring Street and Sixth Avenue on Friday, Sept. 23, and complete it on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The mural project is sponsored by the developer of One SoHo Square, Stellar Management, and Rubin is the second artist to be featured as part of a three-part installation series.

Visitors are encouraged to stop by while Rubin is working, interact with the artist and share photos on social media, tagging his account, @Rubin415, and the hashtag #OneSoHoSq.

Rubin's work will be on display throughout the fall, then auctioned off to a local charitable organization so a different artist can do another live installation.
