Rail Issues Delay B and D Trains Ahead of Thursday Rush Hour, MTA Says

MIDTOWN — B and D trains were running with delays at the start of the Thursday evening rush hour, the MTA said.

The agency first warned of service changes in an alert posted shortly before 3 p.m. and a tweet one hour later. The service changes were due to rail conditions at the 34th Street-Herald Square and Seventh Avenue stations, the agency said.

By 4:39 p.m., B and D trains were running with delays in both directions, the MTA's website said.

Previously, southbound D trains had been rerouted along the C and F lines, while B train service was suspended between Brighton Beach in Brooklyn and 145th Street in Manhattan, the MTA said.

B and D trains were also rerouted and delayed earlier Thursday morning while police investigated a slashing in the Bryant Park subway station.
