MIDTOWN — The man suspected of attacking an off-duty NYPD detective with a meat cleaver was held without bail after being arraigned Wednesday, prosecutors said.

Officers chased Akram Joudeh, 32, to West 32nd Street near Penn Station after he pulled the large knife on officers in Midtown, officials said.

Joudeh was cornered at Sixth Avenue before he suddenly started sprinting west on 32nd Street, where he ran into Detective Brian O’Donnell, who was responding to the scene, and sliced his face from his temple to his jaw.

Pursuing officers fired 18 shots at the man, striking him several times.

Joudeh was charged with attempted murder, menacing a police officer, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.

Detective Brian O'Donnell helped capture the meat-cleaver wielding Akram Joudeh and received a 6-inch laceration on his face and several broken bones in his left hand.

The Queens man repeatedly shouted “Objection!” while he was arraigned from Bellevue Hospital via a monitor connected to Manhattan Criminal Court, the New York Post reported.

Joudeh is a Jordanian national who was arrested in 2013 after he smashed what he believed to be an undercover NYPD vehicle with a wooden fence post.

His lawyer was not immediately available for comment Thursday morning.
