MEATPACKING DISTRICT — A construction worker was hit on the head with a piece of metal at a Gansevoort Peninsula construction site, the FDNY said Wednesday.

The worker was injured on Pier 52 off 11th Avenue between Gansevoort and Little West 12th streets around 8:10 a.m., according to an FDNY spokesman.

The person was transported to Bellevue Hospital in serious condition, said FDNY.

Gansevoort Peninsula houses a Department of Sanitation building that is currently being demolished to be replaced with a park and recycling station, city records show.

Neither the contractor nor the construction manager replied to immediate request for comment.
