MIDTOWN — The mother of Ahmad Khan Rahami’s child filed for full custody after seeing on television that he was arrested during a bloody shootout with police after planting bombs around New York and New Jersey, according to court documents filed Tuesday.

The woman, who DNAinfo is not naming to protect the child's identity, demanded custody after Rahami, 28, was “charged with police attempted murder, and is currently under protective services after possible terrorist related activity in NYC,” the mother wrote in court documents.

She has filed at least seven claims against Rahami for more than $6,800 in child support starting in 2008, records show.

It was not immediately clear how old Rahami’s child is or if he had any other children with her or other women.

Rahami was also arrested in 2012 after violating an order of protection in a domestic violence case, according to court records. It was not clear if the order was issued on behalf of the mother or another person.

The accused bomber also spent three months in jail after stabbing his brother in the leg in 2014, sources said, but was released after his brother recanted.

Rahami’s father, Mohammad Rahami, told reporters Tuesday that he told authorities at the time that he believed his son was a terrorist at the time of the stabbing.

Friends said Rahami was a “changed man” after taking a trip to Afghanistan several years ago and had become “really religious.”

It was not the family's first brush with legal issues.

Rahami’s mother, Najiba Rahami, had been charged with child abuse in 2010 after “inflicting unnecessary severe corporal punishment” on her 7-year-old child, according to court documents.

Najiba entered a rehabilitation program and had her arrest sealed.

Rahami is currently being held on $5.2 million bail in connection to the Linden, New Jersey shootout with police. Additional charges related to the bombings are expected to be brought against him.
