BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — See inside Brooklyn’s historic brownstones on a self-guided tour of some of Bed-Stuy’s homes.

Community group Brownstoners of Bedford-Stuyvesant hosts its annual house tour on Oct. 15 offering a glimpse into the stories behind the community’s iconic architecture.

In its 38th year, the event showcases homes and a local church and business, with brownstones and limestones dating back as far as the early 1800s, according to organizers.

“As always, our mission is for people to come on home to Bed-Stuy,” said Lynette Lewis-Rogers, president of the organization.

“It’s to recognize and appreciate the beauty that is Bedford-Stuyvesant and the homes that we have within the community.

“We don’t mind newbies coming in, but we want to ensure those who are here get a chance to remain here and get a chance to pass it on from generation to generation.”

Participants can also join a free homeownership workshop prior to the tour, sponsored by Bridge Street Development Corporation.

The walking tour will kick off at 11 a.m. at Boys and Girls High School on Fulton Street near Stuyvesant Avenue, where visitors can pick up brochures.

Homeowners and workers will be at each location to talk about the restoration, history and maintenance for each of the properties and some sites will still be under renovation, giving visitors a chance to look at works-in-progress, Lewis-Rogers added.

The event caps off the week-long community celebration, Bed-Stuy Alive!.

Tickets for the 38th annual house tour are $20 in advance/$25 on the day of the tour and can be purchased online or at Brooklyn Swirl, at 445 Marcus Garvey Blvd., or Bed-Vyne Wine at 370 Tompkins Ave.
