UPPER EAST SIDE — A mugger threw an 86-year-old man to the ground while robbing him on Fifth Avenue early Friday morning, police said.

The victim was walking on Fifth Avenue near East 76th Street with his wife when the pair passed a group of four men, the NYPD said.

One of the men asked the victim if he had a dollar, and when the victim said he did not, the suspect grabbed him by the collar and threw him to the ground, according to police.

After tossing the man to the ground, the robber swiped the victim’s wallet and the group took off running in an unknown direction, police said.

Police did not provide a description of the suspects.
