STATEN ISLAND — Staten Island Museum president and CEO Cheryl Adolph stepped down from her post just three months after she was picked as its permanent leader, the museum announced.
Adolph, who worked for the museum for 12 years, will leave on Oct. 7 and move to the College of Staten Island, where she will work as director of corporate and foundation relations.
"It has been an exceptional honor to work with such a dedicated team of staff and board members," Adolph said in a statement.
"I will always remain a friend and supporter of the Staten Island Museum."
Adolph cited "personal reasons" for her resignation, including wanting to spend more time with her family.
She was appointed as interim president and CEO of the museum in Sept. 2014 to succeed Elizabeth Egbert, who died after an illness.
Adolph was chosen as the museum's permanent leader in June.
The museum's board of trustees will form a search committee to seek a replacement for Adolph.
