By Aidan Gardiner | September 15, 2016 10:50am

MANHATTAN — Police rescued a suicidal man who climbed the metal beams of the Macombs Dam Bridge and threatened to leap down into the traffic below, officials said.

Dramatic video shows the man in his 30s climbing the beams about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday and standing upright to take off his shirt on the north side of the bridge, NYPD officials said.

After about two hours, NYPD Sgt. Matthew Zucker, Det. Claudio Sanchez, Det. Vincent Caputo, officers Daniel MacSweeney, Kirk Baker and Aramis Ramos secured him and lowered him to safety.

He was taken to Harlem Hospital for evaluation, officials said.
