MANHATTAN — A dog named "Champion" was found safe after a fire tore across the roof of a SoHo building Tuesday night, officials said.

Flames scorched the roof of 51 Greene St., near Broome Street, about 7:45 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said Wednesday morning.

The 138 firefighters who responded to the scene were able to bring the flames under control about 9:30 p.m., FDNY officials said.

Champion was found safe and sound afterwards, police said.

Six firefighters were treated for minor injuries at area hospitals, officials said.

Fire marshals will determine what sparked the blaze, officials said.
