MANHATTAN — The chef behind what was Queens' only Michelin-star restaurant is opening a new French eatery on the Upper East Side.

Chef Daniel Brown has had some bad luck this past year. He lost his famed Forest Hills restaurant, Danny Brown Wine Bar & Kitchen, last December after not being able to agree on a new lease with his landlord.

It lost its Michelin star just months before it closed, after being the only restaurant in Queens with the honor for years.

Now the chef is on to a new venture. A representative for Brown appeared before Community Board 8's street life committee last week to get its blessing for a new liquor license at 316 E. 84th St. near Second Avenue, where he's planning to launch an intimate 23-seat French restaurant.

The 550-square-foot bistro will offer a small menu of entrees, including spiced duck breast, filet mignon au royale and smoked salmon, according to Thomas McCallen, who represented Brown.

Brown said he could not immediately provide more information about the restaurant or when it is expected to open. Its hours are expected to run from noon to 1 a.m. daily.

Here are some other restaurants headed soon to the neighborhood:

► Conmigo, 1685 First Ave. at East 87th Street

Opening in November

The owners behind Al Forno Pizzeria are planning to open a Mexican restaurant with a menu inspired by street food. Dishes are slated to include tacos, torta sandwiches, chipotle mac n' cheese, hot stuffed peppers and coconut shrimp.

Margaritas, wine, beer and agua frescas will also be served.

► Majorelle, 28 E. 63rd St. at Madison Avenue, The Lowell Hotel

Opening in September

Four-star chef Christian Delouvrier and Charles Masson, the restaurateur behind La Grenouille, are teaming up to open a French restaurant with a Mediterranean flare in the former Post House space at the Lowell Hotel, according to Eater New York.

The new eatery is being designed by White House decorator, Michael S. Smith, according to the New York Times.
