Police Charge Bronx Man With Shooting 75-Year-Old Woman

THE BRONX — Police arrested and charged a 22-year-old man with shooting a 75-year-old women in Morrisania this summer.

Tyshe Nelson Gil, 22, shot the elderly woman in the leg while she walked near Union Avenue and East 165th Street on July 15, according to the NYPD. He was  taken into custody on Sept. 6 and charged with attempted murder.

Police were originally looking for a second man in connection with the shooting, but an NYPD spokesman said the case was now closed and there were no more suspects.

Nelson Gil, who lived less than a block away from where the shooting occurred at 944 Union Ave., was expected to be arraigned at Bronx Criminal Court Thursday.
