THE BRONX — A mugger scooped up a woman’s cash after she dropped it on the sidewalk, then claimed it was his own before slamming her to the ground, according to the NYPD.

The 51-year-old woman was walking in front of 124 E. Tremont Ave., near Creston Avenue, when she dropped $55 on the sidewalk Aug. 2 about 2 p.m., police said.

When she went to pick the money up, the suspect told her it was his, grabbed her by the waist and threw her to the ground, the NYPD said.

He then grabbed the cash and fled. The woman was not seriously injured.

Police described the attacker as about 35 years old, 5-foot-6 and 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a maroon shirt, black shorts and black sneakers.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
