HAMILTON HEIGHTS — A young man was gunned down on a street in Manhattan on Monday night, police said.

Manauris Davis, 19, was fatally shot in the torso outside 554 W. 140th St., near Broadway, about 9:50 p.m., an NYPD spokeswoman said.

"He was standing on the corner talking to another guy. then he saw another guy coming and started walking fast up the hill," said Jose Rivas, 50, a super who reviewed video of the shooting.

"The other guy was running up the middle of the street. Then there were three shots. The killer shot him and then kept running up the hill," Rivas added.

People poured out of nearby buildings after the gunfire erupted, like Frank Gozalez, who was in a nearby basement.

"I came outside. He was face down. He wasn't moving, but there wasn't too much blood," said Gonzalez, 57.

"The ambulance came. They tried to save him. They put him on a stretcher," Gonzalez added.

Davis, who lived in the neighborhood on West 138th Street, was pronounced dead at St. Luke's hospital, she said.

There were no immediate arrests and an NYPD spokeswoman didn't know the circumstances of the gun violence.
