MIDWOOD — A Canarsie man was shot and killed while sitting behind the wheel of his parked car in Midwood Friday night, police said.

Anthony Francis, 21, was found by police shot multiple times in the front seat of his BMW near East 31st Street and Avenue J around 7:30 p.m., police and sources said.

Francis was sitting in the parked car with a woman in the passenger seat Friday night, when an unidentified man pulled up in a dark two-door sedan and fired into the BMW, hitting Francis but missing the female passenger, who escaped the car unharmed, according to police.

The shooter then fled northbound on East 31st Street toward Avenue I, police said.

Francis was rushed to New York Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

There have been no arrests, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
