63-Year-Old Man Assaulted in Fight Over Park Slope Parking Spot, Police Say

PARK SLOPE — A 63-year-old man was shoved and scratched during a fight over a parking spot on Aug. 20, according to a police report.

The fight broke out on Dean Street near Sixth Avenue at 10:15 p.m., according to the report. A man in his 30s pushed the victim and scratched his palm, the victim told police.

Other recent crimes in the 78th Precinct include the following, with details from police reports:

► A 31-year-old man had his BMW stolen after a night of drinking at Park Slope bar on Aug. 26. The victim parked his car on Sackett Street and Fifth Avenue at 9 p.m., went out drinking at a nearby bar, then went home to Staten Island in cab at 3:30 a.m. The next morning he realized he was missing his car keys. When he returned to get for his car, it was gone.

► A burglar swiped $350 in cash and other valuables from a 68-year-old woman's house on Sterling Place and Seventh Avenue on Aug. 24 at 5 p.m. while the woman was at home. The burglar broke into the home by cutting a hole in a screen in the front door.

► A 41-year-old man was arrested after posing as a utility worker and breaking into a house on Prospect Place near Flatbush Avenue on Aug. 28. The suspected burglar had a neck tattoo of a Superman symbol.

► A 1996 Nissan Maxima was stolen from Sixth Avenue and 13th Street on Aug. 22 about 2:30 p.m.

Overall, major crime in the 78th Precinct has dropped 11 percent this year compared to the same period in 2015, according to the most recent statistics from the NYPD. There were 535 major crimes reported between Jan. 1 and Aug. 21, 2016, and 605 major crimes during that period in 2015.
