INWOOD — A hot lineup of comedians and performers are ready to fire up your Labor Day weekend Uptown.

The Dope Free Comedy Show is featuring comedian and writer Subhah Agarwal of Comedy Knockout on TruTV; Eva Evans from Brooklyn, who has appeared on Gotham Comedy Club and Inwood-based Justin Smith of MTV and PBS.

The special Labor Day Weekend event will take place at the Park View Café on 219 Dyckman St. Saturday night, where events have been taking place each week for a little over two years.

The weekly lineup has become a gathering place where comedians go to experiment as an “insider thing,” said Dope founder and comedian Kevin Berrey. “You see people come up and try to do new stuff."

Berrey said although his goal is to keep the show fresh so you’re not getting the same “four single, white guys who are all going to tell jokes on gender or something,” it can be challenging to draw new faces uptown.

“People that come generally fall into three categories,” Berrey said. “Those that say this is really cool, and how much is the rent? [Others] who ask, ‘Is it ok if I perform first, because I live in Canarsie and have a three-hour commute. To ‘I’ve been here before, it’s impossible to find parking.’”

Despite that, Berrey said, he has high hopes for the show.

“I want this show to be as popular as it possibly can, so that it builds the audience,” Berrey said.

The Dope Free Comedy Special is taking place Saturday, Sept. 3 at 10 p.m.
