BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — As the real estate market heats up in Bedford-Stuyvesant, one celebrity broker is setting up shop right in the heart of the neighborhood.
Ryan Serhant, star of Bravo TV’s “Million Dollar Listing New York,” is opening a new office for The Serhant Team on Tompkins Avenue.
In the last month, the team has sold 15 houses in and around Bushwick and Bed-Stuy, Serhant said.
“In the last year, we’re averaging a house sale every other day….it made sense to have boots on the ground,” he told DNAinfo New York.
The Serhant Team, of Nest Seekers International, will launch its new office at 326 Tompkins Ave. near Gates Avenue on Sept. 7, as first reported by Brownstoner.
Through the office, buyers will be able to work alongside agents and developers to purchase properties and build from the ground up, or restore homes.
“I’m seeing a very, very liquid market,” Serhant said of Brooklyn, adding that he’s worked with a lot of Manhattan buyers interested in the neighborhood.
Two-family homes in Bed-Stuy and Bushwick will run for the same price as a one-bedroom in Manhattan, he said.
“A lot of young buyers are coming out and recognizing the value, they want to get in before it's too late,” Serhant said.
In the second quarter of this year, home prices hit record highs in Brooklyn with average apartment sales increasing by 10 percent over the past year to a record $746,277.
Million-dollar homes are becoming the new normal in Bed-Stuy, according to recent reports. The central Brooklyn neighborhood had the largest increase in seven-figure homes in the city over the past four years.
Properties on the market from the Serhant Team range from the low $1 million mark to low $3 million, Serhant said.
The team’s new office will cover all of Brooklyn, the broker said, but focus on Bushwick and Bed-Stuy “because that’s where a majority of business is right now.”
The Tompkins Avenue location opens with a launch party on Sept. 7 from 6 to 9 p.m.
