HARLEM — A man was assaulted and robbed at gunpoint in East Harlem last week, police said.

The 21-year-old victim was walking near 2201 Fifth Ave. on Aug. 23 at 2:35 a.m. when he was hit from behind on the back of his head, police said.

The victim fell to the ground and the suspect took the victim’s wallet from his front pocket and removed $140 in cash.

The victim then got up and looked at the suspect, who displayed a gun before fleeing down Fifth Avenue, police said.

The victim did not seek medical attention.

The suspect was described as standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 180 pounds with black hair and wearing a black baseball cap.
