Teens Caught on Video Snatching iPad and Credit Card From Volkswagen: NYPD

By Eddie Small | August 30, 2016 10:56am

MORRISANIA — Three teens stole an iPad, a pair of Beats headphones and a credit card from a Volkswagen Jetta in the South Bronx earlier this month, according to the NYPD.

The group snatched the items from a red 2009 Jetta parked at Forest Avenue and East 166th Street roughly 12:50 a.m. on Aug. 3, police said.

The thieves were caught on a surveillance video released by police opening the car door, which appears to have been unlocked, and sitting inside for a period of time.

At one point, a suspect opens the trunk of the car and rummages around, and then all three are seen walking away.

Police had no further description of the suspects besides that they were of teen age.

Anyone with information about this theft is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or, for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES), then entering TIP577.
