MIDTOWN — Popular hot dog spot Gray’s Papaya is returning to Midtown.

The one-time chain — which currently operates a single outpost on the Upper West Side — has signed a 20-year lease for a 1,300-square-foot space at 612 Eighth Ave., between West 39th and 40th streets, Crain’s New York reported.

An employee at the Upper West Side location, at West 72nd Street and Broadway, confirmed the report but said he couldn’t provide any details.

The decades-old eatery, which once had several outposts throughout the city, closed its West 37th Street and Eighth Avenue outpost back in 2011, Crain’s reported.

Its Greenwich Village location shuttered at the beginning of 2014 after the rent soared from $30,000 to $50,000 a month.

Rent at the new space, which is slated to open by the end of the year, will be around $27,000 per month, according to Crain's.

Gray's Papaya's popularity helped the chain snag a two-decade lease.

"The landlord typically doesn't do leases that long, but this is a staple," a broker representing the landlord told Crain's. "People get upset when Gray's leaves."
