VIDEO: Stranger Punches Bus Rider in Astoria, Police Say

ASTORIA — Police are hunting a man who punched a fellow straphanger in the face as they were riding a bus in Queens, according to the NYPD.

The man approached the 32-year-old victim who was sitting on the Q66 bus at the corner of 21st Street and 35th Avenue just past noon on July 8, police said.

Video of the encounter shows the suspect walking to the victim and slugging the man in the face.

Police said the the victim ran to the front of the bus and exited the vehicle, then took himself to a nearby hospital where he was treated for a cut on his face and released.

The assailant got off the bus through the rear exit, police said.

The circumstances of the assault are not immediately clear but police said the suspect was unknown to the victim.

The suspect was described as 30 years old, about 5-foot-8, with short dark hair, a mustache and a goatee beard. He was wearing a dark gray shirt and dark pants.
