ASTORIA — A thief was caught on video swiping $200 from a 73-year-old man who was taking cash out of an ATM in Queens last week, according to the NYPD.

The man came up and stood next to the victim as he was withdrawing money at an outdoor Bank of America ATM on 36th Avenue and 31st Street around 9 p.m. on Aug. 23, police said.

As the ATM spit out the victim's $200, the thief leaned in and snatched the cash out of his hands before running away, as the startled victim chased after him, according to video and police.

The suspect is described as around 25 years old, standing roughly 5-foot-9 and weighing 200 pounds, with brown eyes and short brown hair, according to the NYPD.
