MANHATTAN — A Rhode Island woman who killed her child’s father 26 years ago was arrested Thursday, police said.

Zunilda Rosario, 48, was charged with shooting her 19-year-old boyfriend Juan Deleon, whom she accused of being unfaithful, in the hallway of a building on West 150th Street near Amsterdam Avenue on Feb. 11, 1990, according to NYPD officials.

Rosario escaped New York City with her two daughters and the case remained unsolved until February 2016, when a witness who lived on the first floor of the building stepped forward and identified her as the murderer, police said.

Investigators quickly found several other witnesses to confirm that Rosario had shot Deleon dead, according to police.

When Rosario landed in John F. Kennedy airport on Thursday, after a trip to the Dominican Republic, Port Authority police detained her until the NYPD could bring her to the 30th Precinct and charge her with murder.
