MANHATTAN — Police caught the man who abducted his 3-year-old daughter from Pennsylvania in custody, the NYPD said.

Robert Byrne, 24, was apprehended on the west side of Manhattan after an Amber Alert was issued by New York State Police on Friday afternoon for the abduction of Ava Byrne.

Byrne, who is believed to be Ava's father, was driving a 2004 silver Hyundai Elantra with a Pennsylvania license plate, according to police.

A traffic agent saw the alert when it was first released, and then saw the car sought in the notification right next to her, sources said. The traffic agent then notified police.

Police did not say exactly where the car was spotted.

Pennsylvania State Police said that Ava had last been seen in Nescopeck Borough at 12:30 a.m.

Ava was safe with police, the NYPD said, and was being taken to the hospital to be checked out.
