STATEN ISLAND — A thief swiped an elderly woman’s wallet and used her cards to buy almost $400 worth of Gatorade, cigars, and fast food on Staten Island, police said.

An unidentified man lifted a 67-year-old woman’s wallet off the counter of a Dunkin' Donuts at 770  Forest Ave. at 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, police said.

He used her credit and debit cards to spend $384.64 in several northern Staten Island stores, including a 7-Eleven, Burger King, and Bagels, Bread & Butter, police said.

The man bought $41 worth of Gatorade, Newport cigarettes and cigars the next day at the 7-Eleven on Richmond Avenue and Victory Boulevard where a surveillance camera caught an image of the unidentified man, whom police describe as a male in his 20s.

The suspect spent almost $80 worth of food at Bagels, Bread & Butter and Burger King, according to NYPD officials.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
